The Mermaid Braids Tutorial with Raving Fashionista
If you’ve stopped by The Luxe Look recently, you know we’ve teamed up with Sarah from Raving Fashionista, you can see those tutorials here and here. Not only does she have an amazing blog, she also has gorgeous hair! Today she is showing us how to create Mermaid Braids with the help of her friends at Essensuals London in Cherry Hill, NJ!
The Mermaid Braids
For the final look, we channeled a mix of Khaleesi from Game of Thrones, and my nautical summer spirit animal, the mermaid.
Begin this look by sectioning off a small segment of hair from behind your temple, and braid. Just a regular, run-of-the-mill braid this time.
Repeat this on the other side, and once down the middle with a small section of hair.
“Marry” the three braids into one and continue this braid down the length of your hair. Backcomb the end of the braid with a teasing comb or your fingers so the braid will stay without the use of hair ties.
Pull a small section of hair from behind the ears and braid each section.
Weave each braided section under the front most section of hair (so that that hair is left out to frame the face). Line up your braids with the original center braid and secure with one L. Erickson Crystal Windmill Bobby Pin.
Add the other L. Erickson Crystal Windmill Bobby Pin to where the first three braids meet, and adjust the other L. Erickson Crystal Windmill Bobby Pin so they line up straight.
Backcomb the three braids once more to ensure they stay in place, and smooth the rest of the hair.
Spray with hairspray if desired and you’re done! See how I styled my Mermaid Braids over on Raving Fashionista.
